TagWhisky Galore

During World War II, the Scottish island of Todday is running low on whisky supplies due to rationing. When a ship carrying a shipment of whisky wrecks off the coast, the islanders try to salvage as much as they can before the authorities arrive. The island's only Englishman, Captain Waggett, tries to confiscate the whisky, but the islanders outsmart him and hide the whisky. The islanders enjoy a drunken celebration, but eventually the authorities catch wind of the situation. In the end, the islanders manage to keep some of the whisky and Captain Waggett leaves the island in defeat. Mackenzie's humorous novel explores the themes of resourcefulness, rebellion, and the allure of alcohol.
