Veronica Roth, born on August 19, 1988, in New York City, is an American novelist known for her young adult dystopian trilogy, starting with “Divergent.” Roth studied creative writing at Northwestern University and began writing “Divergent” during her senior year. The success of “Divergent” led to two sequels, “Insurgent” and “Allegiant,” completing the trilogy. Roth’s writing is characterized by strong female protagonists, moral dilemmas, and themes of identity and social structures. She has since published other works, including the duology “Carve the Mark” and its sequel, further establishing herself as a prominent author in the young adult genre.
