TagMartin Chuzzlewit

Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens is a satirical novel that follows the life of the wealthy and selfish Martin Chuzzlewit. Martin's grandson, also named Martin, is the complete opposite and is sent away by his grandfather to make his own fortune. Along the way, he meets a cast of characters, including the scheming Jonas Chuzzlewit and the kind-hearted Tom Pinch. The novel is filled with Dickens' signature social commentary on greed, hypocrisy, and the importance of family. Eventually, the younger Martin inherits his grandfather's fortune and uses it to help those in need. The novel ends with a sense of redemption and hope for the future.
