TagGary Shteyngart

Gary Shteyngart is a Russian-American author known for his satirical and witty novels, born on July 5, 1972, in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now Saint Petersburg, Russia). He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1979, settling in New York City. Shteyngart studied at Oberlin College and later earned an MFA from Hunter College. He gained critical acclaim with his debut novel, “The Russian Debutante’s Handbook” (2002), and continued his success with “Absurdistan” (2006). His 2010 novel, “Super Sad True Love Story,” further established his reputation for blending humor with incisive social commentary. Shteyngart’s works often explore themes of identity, immigration, and the absurdities of contemporary life. In addition to his novels, he has written essays and memoirs, including “Little Failure,” which reflects on his experiences as an immigrant and writer.
