Compton Mackenzie was a Scottish writer who wrote "Whisky Galore," a novel about a group of Scottish islanders who try to recover whisky from a shipwreck during World War II. Mackenzie was also a member of the Bloomsbury Group and wrote several other novels and plays throughout his career.
