Flora, a young woman living in London, receives an invitation from her relatives to live with them on their farm. She accepts and arrives at Cold Comfort Farm, where she meets her eccentric and dysfunctional family. Flora sets out to improve their lives and relationships, all while uncovering dark family secrets. Along the way, she helps her cousin Elfine find love, convinces her Aunt Ada to stop mourning her dead husband, and exposes her Uncle Amos's attempts at manipulating the family. In the end, Flora succeeds in bringing order to the farm and finding happiness for herself and her family.
