TagBright Lights, Big City

The novel "Bright Lights, Big City" by Jay McInerney follows a young man named Jamie, who works as a fact-checker for a New York City magazine. Jamie is struggling with his failed marriage, his mother's death, and his own drug use. He spends his nights partying at clubs and trying to numb himself to his problems. Throughout the book, Jamie reflects on his past and tries to come to terms with his present. The book is a poignant portrayal of the excess and disillusionment of the 1980s, and the toll it took on the young people who lived through it.
